Light Emitting Diodes or LED therapy utilises specific wavelengths of light to treat a wide range of dermal conditions and concerns such as; acne, ageing, sun damage and pigmentation. When the LED light enters the skin it travels via neurological pathways to specific cells in the skin to improve cellular performance by triggering a natural bio-stimulatory effect in the tissue.

This treatment is non-invasive, painless, requires no recovery time and is eligible for all skin types and concerns! In clinic we offer our MediLUX LED light treatments as a stand-alone treatment or as an add on for other modalities to enhance results.
The red light therapy produces a biochemical effect in cells that strengthen the mitochondria, of the skin cell. It penetrates 2 – 3 millimetres below the skin’s surface and has a wavelength of 633nm.
The blue LED light has a wavelength of 420nm. The light penetrates 1 millimetre into the skin and has the deepest target to the epidermis.
Yellow light therapy has been scientifically shown to increase ATP production via the absorption of photons in the mitochondria. It penetrates 0.5 – 2mm into the skin with a wavelength of 590nm.
Green light wavelength range has a direct effect on pigment-producing melanocyte cells by reducing the amount of pigment or melanin that they produce. It has a wavelength of 520nm allowing for penetration deep enough to target the pigmentation producing cells.
The green LED light is ideal for treating skin pigmentation lesions such as solar lentigines, freckles, liver spots, and reddish/brown marks on the skin.
The Infrared LED light Penetrates 5 – 10mm into the skin with a wavelength of 840nm, making it the deepest penetrating light in the range.

The red light in MediLUX LED Light Therapy helps wounds heal faster, including wounds from surgery, cuts and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. It can stimulate collagen which assists in reducing fine lines and wrinkles, while also reducing psoriasis lesions and improving hair growth in those suffering from androgenic alopecia.
The blue light in MediLUX Light Therapy kills propionibacterium acne bacteria and can also reduce swollen oil glands while even addressing issues with skin texture.
The green light in Medilux Light Therapy can treat solar lentigines, freckles, liver spots and reddish/brown skin marks. It can help correct skin tone and skin irritation for a fresher complexion overall.
You should avoid MediLUX Light Therapy if you are using topical treatments that can make you sensitive to sunlight or are taking acne medication such as Accutane.
